Empowering women climate for justice

WORKSHOP «EMPOWERING WOMEN CLIMATE FOR JUSTICE» DURING THE CSW65: PARALLEL ONLINE EVENT OF 18/03/2021 CONDUCTED JOINTLY ONLINE WITH OUR PARTNERS THE FEPS, THE JEAN JAURES FOUNDATION, THE FDLF MOROCCO AND A WOMEN GERMANY

The sixty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN will have this year as a priority theme “women’s full and effective participation in public decision-making, elimination of violence, achievement of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.” The theme of the evaluation will be women’s empowerment and the link with sustainable development. In this context, Femmes Sante Climat and its partners including the Jean Jaurès Foundation and the European Foundation for Progressive Studies, Continue their work on the impact of climate change on the situation of women and girls in Europe and in some major regions of the world, and support their empowerment as a prerequisite for achieving the 2030 Agenda.

The COVID-related pandemic that has been raging since 2020 has worsened the precariousness of women and girls but it has, also highlighted their essential role and their essential place in the health and social management of the epidemic and in the search for solutions for a real recovery of societies.

The speakers discussed these issues by focusing on climate change and climate justice, the necessary upgrading of care and services professions, the social protection of women and girls and their access to property, respect for their sexual and reproductive rights and innovative tools to measure girls’ and women’s leadership.
